Many people don’t think that you can prevent back pain. But truthfully you really can. You see, studies show that certain exercises increase the chances that you will suffer from back pain. It is also said that those you don’t exercise at all can suffer from back pain as well. So the key here is balance. Make sure you are eating a healthy diet and getting some exercise in. Low impact exercises such as walking and swimming are great for you and easy on the back.
If you do a lot of crunches be very careful. Performing crunches the wrong way is one of the biggest causes of low back pain. But when done right, they actually decrease your chances of suffering from back pain. If your job requires you to do a lot of heavy lifting, consider wearing a support belt to support your back. Always remember to lift from your knees and not your back. When lifting, keep your back straight and head up. This will help keep the pressure off of your back.
Another way to prevent back pain is to make sure you always sit in chairs that are the appropriate height. Make sure the chair provides good support and swivels when you move. This will help keep stress away from your back. And last but not least make sure you have a decent mattress to sleep on. You don’t want a mattress that is too hard or too soft. If your bed is too soft try putting a piece of plywood in between the mattress and box spring. This should help stiffen it up a bit.
There are certainly other things you can do to prevent back pain. For the most part its all about being careful and making better decisions.
